PT DAHANA (Persero) again organized an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for all its employees on a hybrid basis. Employees who are in the Energetic Material Center (EMC) Subang area participate offline, while employees spread across all sites in Indonesia participate online from 22 to 23 December 2021.
DAHANA System Development Manager, Surya Nugraha explained, this activity was packed with theoretical simulations. Participants received training from BMC Consulting about ERP, Fire, First Aid, mitigation of emergencies, disaster management practices for factory employees, security and some supporters, and EMC or units responsible with emergency responses.
“Hopefully this training can improve the capabilities of DAHANA’s personnel to make sure that in the event of, DAHANA’s fellows can get better knowledge on what to do and remain calm as to minimize material and casualty losses,” said Mr Nugraha.
This training was also expected to provide an effective understanding of the concept of Emergency Response Planning (ERP) to ensure that control can be carried out quickly and precisely; prevent confusion in dealing with emergencies; prevent fatalities, damage to property and the environment; and provide understanding to participants about Design, Operation and Implementation of a clear and effective Emergency Response Plan.
As a state-owned company engaged in the explosives industry, DAHANA has the concern of minimizing losses in any situation. Apart from that, the training is also seen as beneficial for all employees in terms of the ability to deal with disasters, whenever and wherever the emergency occurs.
Emergencies can occur due to human activities, technical problems, or natural disasters that cannot be controlled. The World Bank lists Indonesia as the 35 most disaster-prone countries in the world, and Indonesia ranks the highest for hydro-meteorological and geological disaster-prone areas.
Until now, the territory of Indonesia is under the threat of flash floods, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and various other disaster vulnerabilities. It is then necessary for people to get introduced to the disaster emergency preparedness system.
